Problem

Refugees who have recently travelled to Canada lack the connections and resources to break into the culinary industry, and to connect with their new community.

Target Audience

Refugees and the local community

The target audience for this project are refugees coming to Canada who are looking for work, people who want to try foods from different culture and support their community, and those who are concerned about helping refugees

The Solution

Introducing The Potluck Truck

The Potluck Truck provides culinary training, workshops, and work experience to help refugees gain the knowledge and confidence they need to find a job in the future.

My Role

Designing for the web

I helped with the initial research and brainstorming. As for the final collateral, I worked on creating a responsive website for The Potluck Truck as well as social media ads.

The Final Design

Integrating illustration and branding

Working on the main part of the final deliverables that I was responsible for—the responsive website—was a lot of fun. I was able to combine the playful illustrations and beautiful branding of my teammates with my interface design skills to make an informative, but interesting website design!

Final Thoughts

Individual strengths, working together

It was rewarding for my team members and I to work on collateral that relates directly to our studies. Everyone worked to their strengths and provided helpful feedback during the meetings—which contributed to the Potluck Truck’s success.

Thank you for making it to the end of this case study!
